PM SETU Industry Workshop to Highlight Industry-Led ITI Transformation Model
PM-SETU aims to modernise 1,000 government Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) across India through a hub-and-spoke model. Under the scheme, 200 hub ITIs will be upgraded with advanced infrastructure and modern training facilities, while 800 spoke ITIs will expand training outreach across districts.
The initiative positions ITIs as government-owned but industry-managed institutions, with a focus on demand-driven training, apprenticeships, and improved placement linkages through cluster-based partnerships with anchor industries.
Officials noted that the PM SETU Industry Workshop will outline how the scheme provides a structured platform for sustained industry engagement beyond periodic consultations.
Through the cluster-based approach, industry partners will participate in institutional governance and decision-making, align training with real-time labour market requirements, contribute to curriculum and pedagogy enhancement, support faculty upskilling, and strengthen apprenticeship and placement pipelines.
